Locks, cylinders and entrance doors
On a flat's entrance door the fault is most often in the cylinder or the lock mechanism: the key turns stiffly, does not come back, or the lock does not lock fully. The cylinder is chosen for the thickness of the door and its hardware, and on security doors the lock bolts at several points, so along with it the fit of the leaf and whether the hinges have let the door drop are checked.
A locked door is opened so as to do as little damage to the leaf and frame as possible, and afterwards the lock or cylinder often has to be replaced. So it helps to know what cylinder is on the door and to keep the key code card, if one came with the lock. After moving into a flat or losing a key the cylinder is replaced, because nobody knows how many copies of the key exist.
Railings, gates and welding
Made-to-measure metalwork starts with measuring on site: a balcony railing follows the height and shape of the parapet, a stair railing the pitch of the treads, and a gate the width of the entrance and the slope of the yard. The structure is welded from box sections or solid bars, and before painting it is cleaned and protected with an anti-corrosion primer. A galvanised structure resists rust longer, which makes sense for gates and garden railings.
Welding is also done on existing structures: a cracked railing, a gate hinge that has come off, strengthening a canopy support. Oxy-fuel welding is also used to repair steel heating pipes when a pipe in the floor slab leaks. The price depends on the amount and type of material, the complexity of the shape, the protective finish and the place of work, because welding at the address also means protecting the surroundings.
How billing works
Work in this trade is calculated per square metre or per item, so a separate quotation is prepared after a visit and measuring on site. An expert inspection on site and a quotation for larger works are charged 4.000 RSD, and if you accept the quotation, the amount paid is credited in full against the agreed price of the works.
