About the service

Made-to-measure kitchen and wardrobe: from measurement to fitting

Every wall is measured at several heights, along with niches, corners, windows and radiators, and the positions of the water supply, drain, sockets and cooker circuit. For a kitchen the layout is agreed: where the sink and dishwasher go, where the hob and extractor go, how many wall units and up to what height. From those measurements the units are drawn, the boards are cut and edged, and the furniture is assembled at the address.

A wardrobe in a hallway or bedroom often runs from floor to ceiling and wall to wall, so a filler panel covers the gap left by out-of-true walls. The interior is planned around what it will hold, shelves, hanging rails and drawers, and the doors can be sliding or hinged. Behind a wardrobe on an outside wall a small gap is left so that damp does not build up on the wall.

Repairs and alterations to existing furniture

A new piece is not always needed. Sagging hinges, sticking drawers, loose edge banding, warped kitchen unit doors and bowed shelves are repaired or replaced part by part. A kitchen can also be altered when the worktop, sink or an appliance is changed, so that the new appliance fits into the existing unit.

The price of made-to-measure furniture depends on its dimensions, the board and front materials, the hardware and the number of drawers, while repairs are charged per piece. So the offer is given once the measurements are taken and the materials are agreed. In an older flat a kitchen often has to fit around a riser or an access hatch, which the drawing solves with a filler panel or a shortened unit.

Questions

Questions and answers

Carpentry work: how much does the call-out cost?
A booked call-out within working hours and within the regular service area costs 2.500 RSD. Labour, materials and parts are billed separately from the call-out. An expert inspection on site and a quotation for larger works are charged 4.000 RSD, and if you accept the quotation, the amount paid is credited in full against the agreed price of the works.
Who supplies the materials?
The client can supply the materials, or by agreement we can source them. When we source the materials, the client receives a clear breakdown of the materials installed and the work done.
Carpentry work: is there an emergency call-out?
No. Emergency call-outs cover plumbing faults, electrical faults and locks. Work in this trade is scheduled during working hours, Monday to Saturday from 08 to 16.
Which parts of Belgrade do you cover?
We work all over Belgrade. The regular service area is eight municipalities: Stari Grad, Palilula, Zvezdara, Vozdovac, Vracar, Savski Venac, New Belgrade and Zemun. For the other parts of the city the call out price is confirmed when booking, and for addresses outside Belgrade availability and arrival terms are checked by phone or enquiry.
What is made-to-measure furniture made from?
Most often from melamine-faced chipboard, MDF and solid wood, chosen according to where it goes and what it is for. Kitchen and wardrobe carcasses are usually chipboard, fronts can be painted or foil-wrapped MDF, and the worktop is chosen for its resistance to water and heat.
Can a made-to-measure kitchen go into a flat where the walls are not straight?
Yes: the difference is taken up by filler panels, height-adjustable legs and a worktop cut to the shape of the wall. That is why the walls are measured at several points and not only along the floor.
Should appliances be chosen before the kitchen is measured?
Yes, because the dimensions of built-in appliances go into the kitchen drawing. The oven, hob, dishwasher and fridge have specified cut-outs for installation and ventilation, and the unit is made to fit them, not the other way round.
